Here’s a DIY recipe that will outperform any expensive store-bought health shot without any added sugar or questionable ingredients. This recipe is so creamy + delicious, you’ll want to make it even when you aren’t sick.
The Best part about making this recipe at home is that it’s fully customizable and much more affordable. It’s a great way to get in some immune-boosting fresh ingredients while adding in some supplements to help conquer flu season like a champ. Add in or customize any of these supplements to suit your needs or make taking daily supplements a bit tastier!
Tips for Fighting a Cold Naturally:
1. GET MORE SLEEP – powering down is when your body can get to work fighting off infections, recovering and building a stronger immune system. Plan to get extra sleep (9 or 10 hours) for two nights in a row and see the difference it makes after some much-needed repair time.
2. DRINK MORE WATER + FLUIDS – if you’ve been following along with us, you know how important water and hydration is for fighting off inflammation. Your body needs to be adequately hydrated to perform metabolic activities, which are ramped up when you are sick. Take in as much fluid as you can handle, especially infused teas like this one by one of my all-time fav tea companies Traditional Medicinals and grass-fed bone broth.
3. HELP YOUR BODY OUT WITH SOME ADDITIONAL CLEANSING: this might be weird BUT it works. 1. Rinse your nostrils out in the shower with a saline wash like this one. It helps remove cold-causing bacteria that collect in your nose hairs and can help unblock mucus accumulation to help you breathe better. 2. Take a warm bath with Epsom salts, essential oils and bentonite clay – these natural products help draw out toxin while replenishing essential minerals like magnesium and zinc. 3. Take some coconut activated charcoal at night before bed on an empty stomach. Activated charcoal can bind to bacterially produced toxins in the gut and clear them out with your next bowel movement.
4. ADD IN SOME IMMUNE BOOSTING FOODS + SUPPLEMENTS: foods that provide your body with extra building blocks to help fight infection can dramatically improve recovery time and help build immunity so you get sick less often. Here are some foods/supplements that help out your immune system: garlic, olive oil, ginger, turmeric, green tea, bone broth, vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, B vitamins and collagen. Check out our recipes for homemade bone broth and an immune-boosting citrus green smoothie.
Oh ya and of course – don’t forget to WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY WITH NON-ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP AND WATER whenever the seasons or weather changes. You can’t get sick if you don’t put germs in your eyes or mouth 🙂
